VAPT Services
Univate Global delivers VAPT services in 9 markets: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, South Africa, USA, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and India. Our team includes penetration testers and security analysts who work to OWASP, PTES and NIST methodologies.
Testing Coverage
VAPTEach engagement is scoped around the systems to be tested and the level of access provided to the tester.
What is VAPT?
Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) is a security testing service, not a certification. It combines vulnerability assessment, which identifies and catalogues security weaknesses across systems, with penetration testing, in which ethical hackers actively exploit those weaknesses to determine their real-world impact.
VAPT engagements follow established methodologies such as the OWASP Testing Guide and OWASP Top 10, the Penetration Testing Execution Standard (PTES) and NIST SP 800-115, with each finding rated for severity using the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS).
At a glance
Not a certification
The outcome of a VAPT engagement is a detailed technical report and remediation guidance, not an ISO certificate.
VAPT requirements
A VAPT engagement is scoped around the systems to be tested and the level of access provided to the tester, with coverage across web and mobile applications, APIs, networks, cloud and infrastructure as required.
Black box testing
The tester has no prior knowledge of the target, simulating an external attacker.
Grey box testing
The tester has partial knowledge or limited credentials, simulating an insider or a compromised user.
White box testing
The tester has full knowledge, including architecture and source code, for the most thorough review.
CVSS severity rating
Every finding receives a CVSS-based severity rating with clear remediation guidance.
Retesting
Retesting after remediation confirms that vulnerabilities have been fixed.
Benefits of VAPT
Identifies and prioritises real, exploitable vulnerabilities before attackers can find them.
Reduces the risk of data breaches, downtime and financial or reputational damage.
Provides evidence of security due diligence for clients, partners and regulators.
Supports compliance requirements under standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2 and GDPR.
Delivers actionable, CVSS-rated findings with clear, prioritised remediation steps.
Includes retesting to verify that identified issues have been effectively resolved.
VAPT implementation process
Univate Global delivers VAPT through a structured, methodology-driven process.
Scoping and rules of engagement
Targets, the testing approach and timelines are defined and agreed.
Reconnaissance
Information is gathered about the target environment.
Vulnerability assessment
Automated and manual scanning identifies weaknesses across the systems in scope.
Penetration testing
Confirmed vulnerabilities are safely exploited and validated through manual testing.
Analysis and risk rating
All findings are analysed and rated for severity using CVSS.
Reporting
A detailed report sets out prioritised, actionable remediation guidance.
Remediation support and retest
A retest verifies that the identified vulnerabilities have been fixed.
